The first time I saw airplants was in hawaii. While visiting a nursery I was immediately drawn to the incredible colors, textures, and alien like forms of this unique genus of plants. When I learned they thrived without soil, were among the most diverse and newest genus of plants to evolve, and could grow in a variety of climates, I was hooked. As a natural plant collector who moved frequently and was tired of trying to pack boxes of cactus to take on airplanes, the attraction was instant. Here was the ultimate object of botanical collection, infinitely varied, lightweight, and completely out of this world looking! Airplantman was born.
