Some of our favorite projects arise from a challenging condition.  The London Hotel in West Hollywood was just such a client, requesting a mobile living wall that would provide separation between their rooftop lounge and dining areas.  These living screens would need to be double sided, easily maintained and be regularly moved about to accommodate events—a perfect challenge.  When adding in the low humidity and 100+ degree summer temperatures and we were sent to the drawing board.  The result was a stunning display of mobile living screen walls by Airplantman.  Airplantman's resulting design combines the lightness and transparency of the AirplantFrame with the efficiency of built-in recirculating irrigation, effortless mobility, and the added interest of integral lighting and mist.

Airplantman's living screens can be oriented throughout the space to create perfect backdrops or dividers for any occasion. Particularly popular as photo backdrops for weddings and a magnet for visitors these pieces have been an unqualified success.  One fun aspect is the integrated watering system drips through the thousands of Tillandsia providing the sights and sounds of a lush green water feature.  Timer controlled lighting brings the drama at night while daytime periodic misting adds a pleasant cooling feature for guests enjoying the spectacular views.  We loved getting into all the details of designing this panelized system which easily breaks down for transport and shipping.  Coordinating with the talented fabrication team and creating the complex technical interior components that support this range of functions was quite the problem solving exercise!  The process was incredibly fun to work through thankfully and with time error we got everything dialed in!  The plants thrive, loving the combination of direct sun with regular watering and misting bringing out intense foliage color and blooms.  Hearing from the many people who have stayed at the hotel or just had drinks there to enjoy the amazing view invariably recall seeing our memorable installation.
